Universal Energy Suspension Rear Stabilizer Bushing How-To

For this job you will need:
-A belt sander
-Angle grinder or hacksaw
-Energy Suspension P/N 9.5124G (BLACK)

Step 1:
Place your original stabilizer bushing bracket on the Energy Suspension bracket. Line up the holes and use a sharpy to trace the old bracket.

Step 2:
Trim the Energy bracket with a cutting tool. I love my angle grinder :love2:
Note: I got a little over zealous. I would leave a bit more materal if I were to do it again. (would have made bolting them on a little easier).

Step 3:
Use a belt sander to trim the bottom of the bushing. (It needs to be flush with the bracket).

Step 4:
Lube them up with the suppiled grease and bolt them up like stock. And there you go, inexpensive rear stabilizer bushings for your MX-3!

Note: My rear bar was 20MM (1994 MX-3 GS V6) Confirm your bar size and order bushings accordingly. Energy has universal bushings like the ones I used from 11mm to 33mm!

You can do this mod while on the car. My subframe was out for restoration purposes.

Stay tuned for a How-To on the front stabilizer bushings......hopefully (If it works)

Thanks for the write-ups! Mine had this exactly, too. Then, when I got the Whiteline, I did it all over again. The bushings that come with the Whiteline are even harder.

Are the brackets that come with the whileline bar the same size as the Energy Suspension ones? Not sure if you would even know that...Just curious.

From what I remember, the Whiteline didn't come with brackets. The bushings are thinner than the ES, so I had to grind the brackets thinner.

fowljesse: Thank wytbishop he made me write it.

wytbishop: "Are the brackets that come with the whileline bar the same size as the Energy Suspension ones?" I have no clue, assuming your asking Jesse, but just in case I dunno. :)

The stock MX-3 stabilizer bars will be a big improvement over the no stabilizer bars on my car (A MaZda 323 now with MX-3 GS Suspension).

Based on how cheap the ES bushings are and how easy this is to do I could not possibly compete. I doubt I will bother at all now. I will probably still come up with a solid mount bushing for the racer types though.

No problem, and thank you. Not entirely clear. Leave the circled area length longer then I did, to act as a lever to get them in place easier. Oh and I have figured out how to actually use my new digital camera, so my next project will not be all blurry.

Timely question. Just last weekend, I went to Modify the front set and found I did not need to. They will directly replace the old ones. Check to make sure your bar is 22mm. If so order these babies!

if someone didnt have access to a belt sander to shave the bushing would it be possible to just put washers behind the bracket to make it sit level with the bushing?

there like a cushion that holds the swaybar to the frame while letting it move when you turn
