yeah im tryin to find the crank angle sensor on my mazda mx3 1.6 4 cylinder i was told its near the crank pully by im not seeing it. cause i get codes on my check engin light 61 62 63 and my friend said its the crank angle sensor cause my car started runnin like crap its running really rough like a piston isnt firing but its gettin spark and gas so we did the diagnostic thing and it said it was crank position sensor but i cant find it need help please. and can that cause the car to run like that. i changed the plugs and wires its started doin it then went away and would do it once and a while then all of a sudden its doin it all the time or can a o2 sensor make it run like its not firing on a piston ? please get back to me asap

You need to first realize there is no crank position sensor.

Second, codes 61, 62 and 63 are 2-3 shift solenoid, 3-4
shift solenoid and lockup solenoid respectively.

So I am going to go out on a limb and say you have a 1993
1.6L SOHC with an automatic tranny.

Now what id like is a more specific explanation of whats wrong
with the car besides "Its running like crap".

Here is all you need to know about codes: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=65390

its running like it isnt firing on the piston to the far left its breaking up and when i disconnect the spark plug wire nothing changes with the motor sound so obvisouly that pistion isnt firing but it gets spark and fuel . it first started when i was climbing a hill it started breaking up and losing power but i never had that problem before. it runs really really rough so rough the motor jumps

Allrighty so far left ie #1 piston. First thing you want to do is check
your spark plug on that cylinder. While your doing that check for
continuity on the #1 cylinder plug wire. If it were getting spark
and fuel it would be firing.

its deffinetly getting spark took the plug and hooked it up to the wire and started it blue spark non stop its not making sense to me and if they dont have a crank position sensor why does the auto part store sell one for my car? i checked all plugs and wires there all new. what else can make it sputter like that and lose power?

and its deff gettin fuel i pulled the injectors to make sure it gotta be a sensor or something causing it i smelt a plastic rubber burning smell when it started the break up goin up the hill can a o2 sensor make the car sputter and lose power? cause i cant figure it out i pulled all plugs and wires and checked' em check all wire connectors made sure they were pluged in and clean would it be easier if u heard how it was running for u to try and figure out what could be wrong?

The distributor is the crank position sensor on these cars.
It sends a TDC pulse to fire cylinder one and another separate
pulse for each 90 degrees counterclockwise.

The more information the better, if you want to make a video clip.

it deffinetly sounds like its misfiring though if it was outta time would it run like it was misfiring ? but that wouldnt make sense considering it did it then stopped and now its doin it all the time now . its really aggrovating cause only thing i could think of is sensors and electtrical problem cause it ran fine up till yesterday and i just redid all plugs and wires and dunno what could burn out to make it run like its misfiring

its the piston when u stading infront of the car all the way to the left furthest from the distributer it runs and starts right up just runs really bad and no power

Its likely your firing order is one off then.

Make sure its like this below:

its just really weird that when i unplug number 1 spark plug wire the engin dont drop or anything so im assuming that the number 1 isnt firing cause its stayin the same way could the coil or distributer still be bad even though the spark plugs are firing?

No. If any cyls are firing, the coil is alright. These coils don't really fail anyway.

Are you getting spark in the dead cyl? Does the plug come out wet? black? grey?

What colour is your exhaust, does it smell unusually like gas?

If I read correctly, you replaced your plugs/wires. Thats a good start.

Ensure you have the plugwires in the correct firing order.

Next is to check compression in the clyinder (if you have fuel).

If there is no fuel, you could have a clogged injector.

The guys are right in saying there is no crank position sensor, 93 uses a single cam position sensor.
