Post by ionic1000 »

I thought we could start a list of all the different clutches we are running on our beloved MX-3's! Help for those who are looking to replace their clutch.

1. Name/type of clutch you're running?
2. Where did you get it?
3. How much?
4. How much city/highway usage?
5. Stock tranny or swapped in?
6. How long have you had it?
7. What flywheel are you running with it?
8. How do you like it?

1 spec stage 2 for a probe GT
2 fasttoyz.net
3 550 or somethin?
4 lots of city and hwy usage. plus a lot of high rpm shifts
5 mx3 gs stock tranny
6 since the beginning of summer 2009
7 oem mx3
8 love it.

side note - ss braided clutch line as well.

over all i like this clutch alot. it grabs good and hard however the feel for the clutch isnt as "poppy" as i wanted. i feel like im driving a really amazing oem clutch and not some crazy performance clutch.

1. Exedy organic
2. It came with the car, so I don't know
3. ^^
4. About 40%HWY
5. SG stock Tranny
6. I bought the car about 2 years ago, and the clutch was put in about 8,000 miles before I bought it
7. Stock GS Flywheel
8. It grabbed great for a long time, and my engine was built for torque, but the first time I drag raced it, it started slipping. I increased the horsepower by about 15-20 at the crank, and now it slips with anything more than normal spirited driving. It holds up to coming from a standstill at a sidestreet, and speeding up to 55 in about 7 seconds to fit into traffic, shifting at about 4500.

1. Spec stage 3 clutch
2. Online at some site, oficial vendor.. I forgot
3. Around 320 -350
4. I average around 1500 miles a month, both hwy an city.
5. Stock tranny
6. Around 8 months
7. Fidanza
8. It is awesome considering I am boosted at 5 trough 7lbs(when I get bored)

If you have an n/a car, you wont have any clutch problems... you can get away with the ebay "stage 3" f1 cluches.

If you are boosted... that wont hold much and will easily slip(as in my case)

cheers :D

8. How do you like it?had the same with a regular presureplate, it was perfect gripped awesome, and had a stock pedal feel. first day at the track after breakdown period, clutch was slipping in second gear with the slicks on, never had that problem on normal road use. the double presureplate made i held even in burnouts, but is a bi*** to drive in trafic, almost impossible to make a smooth lunch[/quote]

1. Name/type of clutch you're running? Clutch Masters St 3 + kevlar plate
2. Where did you get it? Ebay
3. How much? 450
4. How much city/highway usage? Both equally much, and giving it the high rpm beatings
5. Stock tranny or swapped in? stock
6. How long have you had it? 10k
7. What flywheel are you running with it? Aasco 9lb
8. How do you like it? It's great, not too good for traffic jams but awesom for all the power (including nitrous)

I've had a XTD clutch before the CM, that one only lasted 20k km's !! Piece of sh*t
Just another Mx3 freak :)

1. Name/type of clutch you're running? - ACT Unsprung 6 puck with a stock pressure plate
2. Where did you get it? - Found it used in my buddy's porch when I swapped in my first ZE
3. How much? - $50. New it's about $129 for the disc, and the stock pressure plate, well you should have one.
4. How much city/highway usage? - Mainly hwy and drag strip
5. Stock tranny or swapped in? - Stock tranny
6. How long have you had it? - almost 5 years now
7. What flywheel are you running with it? - Fidanza recently, but MX3 K8 Flywheel for most of the time
8. How do you like it? - Coolest thing ever, haven't broken any trannies and it's seen more power than 90% of the people on here put down. Daily drove the car with this set up for at least a year and a half.

1. Name/type of clutch you're running? ACT Stage 2
2. Where did you get it? Don't remember
3. How much? 400
4. How much city/highway usage? mostly city as the car isn't driven much
5. Stock tranny or swapped in? Jspec G series with a stock LSD
6. How long have you had it? 7 years - 75000 miles
7. What flywheel are you running with it? K8 for a long time- Aasco now
8. How do you like it? very much, but grippy for stop and go traffic, heavy pedal for stop and go to, awesome on the track and fun for around town driving

Recently swapped the ACT for a CM b/c I thought it was dead when the car wouldn't shift. Was wrong and it was the trans (yet to be taken apart for full diagnosis). Changed companies b/c I wanted something smoother as I race less these days. CM is fine so far, but still pretty new and so I have not been hard on it yet.

Love it pulls hard when needed. It doesn't pull like my old act stage 3 but it is is friendly in rush hour unlike the act, oh ya and I just had to pull the engine the clutch still looked new after 5k miles so it was a good deal in my opinion. I have been hard on it too.
