Replacing oil pan

Is it possible to do this with the car raised a couple feet from the ground? I really need to replace mine, since I can almost poke a hole through it, and have found a minty one to replace the rotten one with. Only problem is that I have just done my clutch and distri, so my money-tree needs a season to get back to full strength.

Do I need to take off the exhoust Y pipe? Should I use a gasket or a fluid sealant?
Anybody got a how-to or something?

Here's roughly what I did:
-Drained oil
-Jacked up onto axle stands (with back up jacks still there etc)
-unbolted Ypipe from headers
-the flex pipe allowed enough flex to get the y pipe out of the way
-unbolted pan
-cleaned it up and painted, it
-dry off your block on the mating surfaces
-run a continuous bead of sealant suitable for engine/oil use ( I did an O around each bolt hole)
-bolt back up evenly and torque to spec
-wipe off excess and let set for the required time

The manual covered it for me.
