Hatch Glass Problem

I have been wanting to tint my hatch and side windows for a while but I noticed when I got the car, the hatch had some serious scratches. I have taken it to Apple Autoglass to find out if they can buff it out. I was told, only the windshield and side windows can be buffed. The hatch glass would shatter very easily if they were try. They recommend buying hatch glass from the wreckers and they will install that for $150.
$100 for whole hatch from the wreckers (hopefully a mint one)
$150 for glass swap
$150 for window tinting from local shop in Cambridge "Xtreme"
total:
$400
The only way I can think of to save some money here is:
- get just the glass (I heard it's hard to do

)
- use the online manual and install the glass myself
- I'll get the shop to do the tinting
Any ideas people?

Have you been to the wreckers? Maybe they have a hatch the same colour you can just swap in (and if you're lucky, it'll be tinted already).

I went to the wreckers yesterday. Price was $100 for the whole hatch. The one I found was red, mint glass, not tinted, and had non wrap around spoiler. If someone wants a non wrap around spoiler I'd sell it to them. That would help or if someone had a I black hatch they could sell.
ps. this car had the 6 spoke enkei rims with pretty good tires, mint 92-93 interior, and gs lip if anyone is interested.

Which wreckers did you go to? I have a red hatch with already tinted glass that I could sell you, without the spoiler. Needs to be taken off my parts car though.

$400 for tinting...for that, they better be using some sort of magical tint dye injected directly into the gflass, or tinted glass...
Going price is $200 taxes in for tints all around with a lifetime guarantee...

sorry maybe I wrote that wrong, I mean total cost for me to get my car tinted with new glass is going to be $400 not the tinting job itself

its probly 400 because of the defroster lines. they have the cut each individual pieceand put it on. cause if you dont when you use your defroster i guess the glue thats used with the tint its makes the tint peal off and bubble. my buddies dad owns a tinting companyand they charge alot for backwindows too cause of that. but its worth it.

Okay... he said in his first post that 400 is for replacement of hatch, etc, and tint. He cleary said 150 for tint.
