Command Start Issue

I have quite the piss off of an issue with my mx-3's command start. It is a 5 speed, and i go through all the steps to set the alarm ( neutral, e brake up, let off break/ clutch, take out key.. car stays running, shut door car turns off and command start is activated) however, when i shut the drivers door the car stays running. When i go around to the passenger side door and shut it the engine shuts off, and it sets. I am thinking it is a sensor in the door, because even when the drivers door is open, the cabin light doesn't go on. Can someone steer me in the right direction as to what might possibly be the problem and perhaps how to fix it?

Hoping for oxidation on the door jamb switch. Push it in and out a bunch of times with a little side load in various directions until the interior lights turn on in response to the switch closing. Essentially you are wearing through the oxidation to make the contacts close. Try it on both the right and left doors to see which is the culprit.

Not sure what a "command start" is but if it relies on the door ajar switch maybe this will help.
