Locating a Valve Cover Gasket

Post by MX3-4U2NV »

So, I was changing my plugs today, noticed oil in the spark plug holes of 4 out of the 6 plugs. One had so much oil, it was the height of my plug wrench.

So I am in need of a Valve Cover Gasket.

Anyone have any cheap locations within the GTA where I can find one?

And how much do they go for anyways?

In canada, you HAVE to go to mazda, prepare to shell out between 35-45 for the gasket.

Can those be trusted? I've never bought a gasket from ebay.

Also, I am guessing I should change the intake manifold gasket too, seeing as I'll have that off as well?

Any other things I should do/look for while doing this?

you have to know how to install it properly. All bolts need to be torqued to spec and new grommets have to be used. Also you need to use gasket maker on it.

Huh?

EDIT:

So, so far I will need front and rear Valve Cover Gaskets, Intake Manifold Gasket, and Phenolic thermo spacers?

And I can get stuff from Napa?

don't separate throttle body from intake manifold and you won't need that gasket. You just need to replace valve cover gasket and phenolic spacer is optional, you can just use regular intake manifold gasket.

No, phenos you have to get from outlaw engineering, google them, I just think it's something you should do while you already have the manny off. I'm pretty sure you need to get your gaskets at mazda, unless you choose ebay sellers who might have genuine mazda gaskets. But Colin ?used to/still does? work at a stealership so he'd know better than me.

Their problems were fixed with a genuine Mada gasket. No way should you need a gasket maker with those..
