Thinking for the future about a new project...

So I had hoped to make my current MX3 last me a good while. I've poured tons of labor and love into it, besides money. What I didn't realize when I bought it was that it had been in an accident and that caused some major rust in the the rear end/ bent rear frame. I've gotten the rust taken car of (and learned to weld in the process!) and had totally planned on going further with the car, but realize that since the frame is not in perfect shape, and I need tons of body work anyway, it might be a good idea to look towards the future.
I love my mx3, don't get me wrong, it's my 2nd one. If I were to continue with the KL line, I would get another MX3, gut it and rebuild from scratch. Literally, paint the inside and out, seam weld + reinforce certain areas, poly the frame rails, build a turbo KLZE, possibly even a 4wd protege/323 conversion. The the interior would go back in in front so I'd have a SOLID DD that makes sweet power and is quiet and fun. Doing this would allow me to have lots of cargo space as I'd be removing the back seat. There are very few SMALL coupes that can match the mx3's storage capacity.
If I were to go away from the mx3, I have some cars in mind...but I'd be using it as a daily driver, so they aren't necessarily as good for that. Anyway here are the other cars.
FD Rx7 - Clearly one of everyone's dream cars, since I don't have alot of money to blow all at once, I'd either be starting from salvage or picking up a shell. Doesn't really have that much cargo space, but it sure would be fun![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
300ZX - While they're relatively heavy, they seem to have decent interior space (although I've never actually been in one :darin:) and can make good power.
Miata's and S2000's are off the list as they have no room for a dog or 2 plus the woman.
Celica GT4 ST185 - AWD Rally car, looks good and has some decent HP potential. Does lack a bit of cargo space.
All of these cars are RWD, which is definitely an upgrade from FWD that I'm used to, but they are pretty much all out sports cars (except the celica). I would love to have any of them, but I don't know if it's worth giving up the rare parts I've collected for the mx3 that would get transferred over, or how much more I would enjoy them than a fully built mx3 esp. considering prices.
I don't want an all out track car, but rather a "touring" car that I can enjoy driving, and occasionally enjoy coned parking lots or tracks. I know the above cars would excel at this (plus RWD is more fun) but I think the mx3 is more "practical". Although I suppose practicality isn't really the though behind a sports car :spin:
Thoughts? Opinions? Cars you suggest? I'm open to anything, but I'd rather stay w/ something that looks and feels "sporty". No 4 doors and no subies cuz I think they're all ugly. I'm not opposed to thinking of a more "muscle" era car but it would have to be something that is not so expensive to get ahold of and that could be modified to handle well. (No mustangs!)
