Cargo Cover questions
Hi All,
I've had my 95 MX-3 for a little over a year and slowly getting the flaws fixed. I did a search on the cargo cover and several of you mentioned it was rare. Does that mean they break easy so its rare to see a good one? Or does that mean it was an option and not everyone bought it? Mine did not come with one and I've never seen one. Is it a hard plastic panel? Or like fabric on a spring loaded roller so it rolls up when you unhook it?
Any good sources?
Thx
Scott

Re: Cargo Cover questions
I can take pictures of mine, but basically it's just 2 flimsy cardboard pieces with cloth/carepting wrapped around it. There is a space in the middle that allows it to be folded, and 2 strings that attach to the hatch so when you open the hatch, the cover opens with it.Nightrunner wrote:Hi All,

Unfortunately my cover doesn't have the strings, and it's so worn out it needs a lot of TLC... hopefully I can give it that soon.

Re: Cargo Cover questions
If I had extra time I'd make a mold and start repopping fiberglass ones.

Re: Cargo Cover questions
I see. No need for pics. Thanks. I can visualize the two pieces. Sounds like a fab from scratch is in order and have a sturdy one. Good idea about a mold. I bet you'd have a lot of customers.

Mine does not fold...it is one piece. There was a MOCA guy who made reproductions once upon a time I think. Don't know if he stil does or even who he was.

Mine doesn't fold either. At one point you could buy them from this site Evilyeti (About $60), but I don't know if they're still in business.

Yea that's why good ones are so rare, I found one in a junkyard and didn't realize that it's not supposed to fold either.Dark_Rider2k3 wrote:mine must be so worn that it folds when it's not supposed towytbishop wrote:Mine does not fold...it is one piece. I'm thinking of just using the mounting hardware and strings from it and attaching them to a carpeted piece of plywood.

Re: Cargo Cover questions
I painted some crown moulding and screwed it with black screws to the bottom of the piece. Its solid now. Can't even see the screws either, or the moulding, as its all black...

Pat doesn't have time to make anymore on MOCA.
I've talked with him about it, and it's just he's too busy to be worrying about it.
So it's a no-go with Pat

Re: Cargo Cover questions
Yea they are flimsy and break easily. Mine is fubar'd and folds in the middle when it shouldn't Also one of the hinges is broken so the thing just flops about at the back when I open the hatch.
I am going to be making a parcel shelf (we call them that in the UK ) out of 12mm (approx 1/2 inch) MDF for it pretty soon so I'll post pics up once done and the process I used so y'all can make one too. I normaly trace the template onto the MDF from the original shelf but for those who don't have one I'll include some rough measurments. It's only a basic rectangle so if you start over size then fettle it to the right size it'll all be good.
It'll be a basic stealth shelf as I want to mount a pair of 6x9's onto it which cannot be seen when the hatch is closed, so any would be tea leaves cant see my speakers and steal them! Along with the rest of my install! And I hate it when people butcher holes into original parcel shelves as we already know they can be rare.
Gimme a couple of weeks and I'll post up pics.
