engine idle goes down in neutral

Hi,
on my '92 GS, when you put the car into neutral, the idle goes down about 100 RPM, and back up when you put it in gear (with the clutch still in) It doesn't do this on my '94 GS. Anybody happen to know why?

My 92 did that as well, but I always thought that it was the ecu raising rpms in expectation of the load in gear, in other words it's supposed to do that. It doesn't do that on my 94 but I don't think I've got everything running properly yet...

check your iac it might be dirty i had that problem than took it off and took some intake cleaner to it and it seemed to work fine after. and yea check and see if you havea vacuum leak too. that was also a problem

Mine does it as well. Maybe I should clean my IAC up some more but I know it's pretty clean from the last time I had to take it off. Maybe I have a vac leak somewhere but it makes sense that it would climb in RPMs by about 100 revs just for load purposes when in gear.

Did cleaning your IAC completely stop the rpms from raising when putting the box in gear?
