Questions on cams
Questions on cams
Just wanted to know since I've taken apart my klze, how should i store away the part so they don't become rusted? I've seen very small signs of like surface rust that I can just wipe off with my finger so I wanted to know what should I buy to help prevent it. thanks.
Re: Questions on cams
Okay, use some WD40 to remove what's there... Get it clean and dry, then rub some mineral oil on it, wrap some cling wrap around it and tape the edges. That should keep them clean until installation! As always I'm open to criticisms and corrections.......... ![Question :?:](./images/smilies/icon_question.gif)

Re: Questions on cams
Personally I'd put them in a ziploc bag wrapped in clean oily rags.

Re: Questions on cams
Ya that's a good one, unfortunately ziploc bags that big are usually not there when you need them.

Re: Questions on cams
oily rags and oil minerals where could i get such stuff? any autoparts store?
Re: Questions on cams
get some motor oil, clean the camshaft. I used comet and a kitchen sponge.
Dry it very well, coat with motor oil.
get some cling wrap, wrap the oily camshaft.
Get some large clear packing tape. Tape the whole camshaft shut.
A couple threads down is the "rusty camshafts" thread. It mentions exactly this![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
