24 Hours of Lemons

Some of you may remember us - we ran a MX3 in the 24 hours of lemons a couple of years ago. We were easily the fasterst car there, but the base car we bought had a ton of hidden problems. So, we were going to run again this year, but we don't have enough funded drivers. We'd like to unload everything but I don't have enough posts to list it.

The question is, what parts are the most valuable?
What should we scrap and what should we sell?
Does anybody want to take everything off our hands?

I'll try to post in a few places and get my post count up. The things will be sold cheap to get rid of them quickly. We have 2 cars - one with a $2000 cage in it.

I like Lemons, do you plan on making lemonade at all?

I was about to make a comment like that one, but, luckily, I googled it first. There is a "24 Hrs of LeMons" race in Texas.

Well, initially, I thought he had made a mistake.
Now, I think it IS funny, and I think the name of the race (and the race itself) is a great idea.

Depends. We don't know what parts are good until we know what parts you have. Even pics would give us an idea.

This is the first car we bought and turned into the race car:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60452" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The suspension is in good shape and includes Drop Zone Lowering Springs (1.8 IN), KYB Gr2 shocks/struts, Whiteline Automotive camber bolts, Whiteline Automotive 22MM rear sway bar with poly bushings.

The body is trash (except for the hatch which we removed before the race). The engine is shot (holed a piston) but all the ancilliaries are there (alternator, starter, distributor etc). There is a homemade cold air intake as well.

We replaced the clutch, throwout and pilot bearings during the race but only got about 20 miles before the motor blew (overheated - the radiator cap got knocked off and the dash lights quit functioning so the driver did not know it was overheating). Transmission is ok as well as the fact we completely rebuilt the brakes - including stainless lines, discs, pads etc. We only put about 200 laps on the car total.

We also bought a second car from Ohio as a parts car. It is white, already disassembled but with all the parts there (ie axles etc). It turns out to have the same shocks so we have 2 sets. Bdy is in good shape.

In addition we have 2 sets GS rims plus about 15 tired shaved for racing/autocrossing.

I know I can get more parting them out nd selling the parts individually but to be honest, the team would just like to unload the whole lot at once and save the time of boxing & shipping.

Not a chance. We bought the car from him and I'll leave it at that. Not a positive experience.

I'd maybe take a set of aftermarket struts if they aren't hammered out too bad.
