lol, what are you going to use instead?
you can't run with out one unless you have electronics in place to simulate the 0-5V signal to the ecu (based on load and rpm). OR have a stand alone ems.

+1 i agree

OP, do you mean you are wanting to bypass your MAF altogether? or are you talking about taking it off to use throttle body cleaner?

also, what's so wrong w/ your MAF anyway?

The easiest way to remove the MAF altogether is with MAP ECU II.

MAP stands for Mean Absolute Pressure. MAP ECU is a device which piggybacks on your ECU and uses a pressure sensor in your intake manifold to determine the mass of air entering the system and communicates that to the ECU. IT can also be used as a stand alone ECU.

I'm also guessing that this is not exactly what you mean. But if you want to run without a MAF that's what you need.

Indeed. It needs that MAF to measure how much air is going into the engine, and if it can't do that, than it doesn't know how much fuel to add. This isn't a coolant sensor or even a knock sensor, this MAP sensor is REQUIRED to have the car to run. Try running without one and you'll see it doesn't even want to start, sometimes it will, but just wants to stall. I'm guilty of forgetting to replug the VAF.

Not exactly. In some cases, like when you're using a very aggressive camshaft, your MAF can give you a false reading. In those cases you need to get rid of it, and use the TPS and MAP for the ECU to calculate the air intake volume. It happens only in extreme cases, but it does happen.

Indeed, but you still need an alternative solution, like a MAP. You can't have just nothing.

Of course. But the op never said he was gonna use nothing. Maybe he already knows how to do the rest.

Look at the sticker on it. I believe it has a big S on it. go to a upull yard, and get any other one with a S on it for $20.

You mean 1500 DOLLARS?
Go to Advance Auto Parts. We have it (remanufactured) for $218.99 + tax, and it comes with a 1 year warranty. The part number is 74-10037.
One other thing: get the old one with you, or else you'll have to pay a $25 core charge.
