93 MX3 GLX V6 Toast. Thanks closing this down

Post by proud-one »

1993 mazda mx3 GS 1.8 V6.
have had engine removed and rebuilder advises
cylinder wall on #6 damaged as well as it's valve
and piston. quote of $1000 in labor alone. parts extra
if he can even find them. thru his rebuild business cannot
locate cylinder head. looking for some options on finding
a engine and scraping this one. has anyone been this route
before. car body is in great condition but at moment is just
a shell with no engine. not sure on how much i want to spend
to keep it alive. $1000 for remove & replace at the local Mazda
Dealer plus $1000 for rebuild plus parts. hate to loose this car
it's a blast to drive. any tips on moving forward. are there any
alternate replacement engines that will fit this make versus finding
one at the wrecking yard. any advise is appreciated

JDM KLZE 2.5L 200BHP direct bolt in.

Don't even think of going your mechanic's route.

Let's keep our neighborhood free of clutter. If you want to throw your money away buy a civic. KLZE. All the way.

KLZE=$800usd+- with the bonus of 190+- Horsepower...just for the engine. Then drop it in yourself. Any monkey with a decent set of wrenches, an engine lift ($300 for a decent one) and a little mechanical apptitude can do it. Just look at the 300,000+ posts on this site for info regarding how to do it. Just please use the search feature first, before posting questions that most of the senior members have already answered a milliion times, that is, unless you like getting flamed????

And don't waste your money on the rebuild. Hell, if anything, buy a KLZE, or KLDE, and a rebuild kit, and do it yourself. If you do it right, the end result is a like new engine!!!

I don't know where you're located, but in some countries certain engines are hard to find.

I also suggest replacing the engine with a 2.5l, either from an importer who offers the 2.5l from a MX-6 (KL ZE)
or you could find the 2.5l from a ford probe or any other v6 mx-6.

Yeah, if KLZE is too hard to find, get a north american Probe GT or MX-6 engine. 160hp KLDE.
