So your probably thinking, holy @!?* how is he getting almost 400km on half a tank of gas.. Well I'm not, my brother is.

Here's the dealyo:

Driving back from vernon bc to surrey bc on the coquihalla highway
(mountain pass) with some city driving through kelowna.

Ac was off for the majority of the time

Mods are:

KLZE straight neck (non working pass vris)
Headers w/full exhaust and highflow cat
Ebay cai
Kl49 ecu chipped by probinator
Kl02 vaf
225 50 16 tires on FD rims

I realize that probes have a 50L tank, which is about 10L larger then ours, but eveen so I get on average about 350 a TANK on the exact same road, like I could cruise beside him the whole time and when we get to vernon he still has half a tankish and I'm on empty.

Why... We both have probinators.. Pretty much the same motors and bolt ons. The only thing I could see is that he has newer universal o2 sensors, but would that really make a difference?

Maybe I should get a kl49 ecu chipped and run a kl02 vaf, I don't care if my vris is off

I'm quite sure you have a 50L tank. This may make you more upset...

Pretty sure mx3s have a 40l tank, almost ran it out gas once and I put in about 37-38L. Either way, mileage sucks. Who's getting the same as me

Haha, I get 400 km/tank if I'm lucky on my BP, but I always drive it like its stolen and I still have the B6 MAF. (smells like gas when I punch it, lol)

My typical fill up is 42-43L after the lights been on for 20 - 40km.

Just FYI.

sounds like the 180-190km i get out of a full tank with mine.

Well regardless of you all trying to own me, none of the responses are actually helping me find out why my mileage sucks. Even if the tank is 50L why is it then my gas light goes on at 320km.. Usually about 37L to fill.. why is my mileage so crappy and why is his so good?

Maybe my fuel gauge is messed..

No solo, we're both getting absolute terrible mileage. I just filled up 10 gallons for 180 miles....terrible.

A gas light in a vehicle usually comes on when there is still a certain reserve amount of fuel left in the tank, same with when the needle hits "empty" on many vehicles. It's a psychological thing, because many people wait until the tank is empty to fill it, this way there's still roughly 5 or so litres left just in case. Not trying to steer the thread in the wrong direction or get you twisted, just a polite discussion.

yeah my gas mileage is around 20-22mpg right now 10 gallons for 200-220 miles

That's fine, but if there is 50L of fuel in my tank, and the light goes on that means in my case there is at lease 17L of gas left in my tank.. Because if I fill when the light comes on I put in about 30L max.

I don't know why the manual says 50L because all the MX-3s I've seen have 40L tank capacities in reality.
