Rear Bumper Removal

Just wanna say I finally took off my rear bumper today cause I wanted to touch up some damage on the quarter panel that extended a little bit past the bumper, so I thought I'd take it off to make the job easier. However I didn't realize how much of a PITA this was... Took me 2 days between running to the store and buying penetrant for the 17 year old screws that were so rusty you couldn't fit any kind of screwdriver to em. And some of the clips holding it to the body were impossible to get to, I ended up braking a few of them. How the hell did you guys do it???

To save myself the trouble of fighting with rusted out screws, i just cut out most of them with my dremel, drilled out the holes and went with larger stainless screws...

i just had a fight with my back bumper too... but the bolts under the tail lights i used a socket? and if they were really bad slam on a size smaller and it usually works good ..but my problem was with the bolt underneith the car.. sprayed it and it spun inside the bumper .. so i had to cut it and ripp the bumper off..and i bent the bumper up pritty bad ahaha but i tend to spazz with that stuff lol

So did you start on the fiberglass yet? And how are you planning on painting it?

oh man bad memories!

When i had to take my bumper off, I had the most frustrating time. I got most of the bolts off, but the ones underneath the tail lights, and 1 of the bolts on the underside of the car, would not come off at all!!

I ended up cutting up the bumper and then taking the bolt off.. good thing I didn't need it!
