window rolls down but wont come up

Post by chrome730 »

well the window basically rolls down. when i hit the switch to roll it back up, i get nothing. my motor kicks on but it doesnt move. the window was stuck down so i ripped the door apart and tried to get it up. after banging on the motor with a screwdriver it went up. im sure its the motor. just want to know if it may be something else.

nope its pretty simple how those windows go together, its either the switch or the motor.

well the motor pulls it up and lets it down but it appears to get stuck in certain areas and will not budge.

Second, clean + lube.

Also, even if it is just grimey rails, it still couldn't hurt to open up you power windows switches and clean the carbon off of the contacts. The windows roll up and down quite a bit quicker if you keep the switches maintained and delivering the proper voltage.

If you hit the button and the motor comes on ignore this response. If it goes down but not up it's a three wire system hot down, common ground, hot up. Flexing of the wires can cause a break. Replace the "up" wire.

the motor does come on now its making a loud grinding sound, when its midway up and wont move almost as if it is slipping. or the motors gears are completely shot. im keepin it open to ideas of what it may be as for greasing the rails i did that and it helped the stops. thanks.

Open up the door and check out your motor and gear then post in the [WTB] section. :)
