They still have the chrome centre caps on their blacks steelies, dead giveaway. And I haven't ever seen a taxi that colour.

But wow, that's just ridiculous. But at least they still use crown vics, I developed a sixth sense for the shape of those cars, I'm at the point where I can spot one that just passed by my peripheral vision for a split second. 8)

And I find it sad that they're not even trying to hide the fact that it's a cash grab now, specially disguising cars just to catch speeders? That's just low.

Really? I don't recall ever seeing another crown vic with chrome centre caps. Then again I rarely see crown vic taxis here, it's mostly tauruses and malibus, the airport taxis are black lincoln town cars.

thats crazy.....and as prepared as one could be trying to spot a cop/cab i'd have to say in kitchener it would not be possible.....we have cab drivers that drive everything from malibus to montecarlos......i'll just stick to the safe way and abide by the law......or so i tell myself

The problem comes in when "abiding by the law" puts you and people you care about at risk.

All good drivers ignore speed signs (almost) entirely, and set their speed according to road and traffic conditions. If traffic is moving at 125, it's incredibly dangerous to drive 100. If traffic moves at 72km/h, it's incredibly dangerous to drive 50km/h.

It's not that speed deltas are inherently bad, it's that driver's education in this country is so weak, and drivers don't understand how to use lanes properly.

Sigh.

This is just another revenue grab, supported by the old, tired and frightened citizens of this country who are glued to the television for too much of their lives.

If we want safe roads with appropriate speed limits and enforcements, we need to remove money from the equation.

15 demerit points. Lose em all, and you have to reapply for your license.

No more speed fines.

Remove money from the picture and you remove the conflict of interest.

It's really unfair to police chiefs and governors to tempt them with money (lower speed limit on this road, and you'll receive $15,000 extra per year), and then be angry when they do that. Let's do the right thing, and demand our government remove money from the equation.

I tell you it floors me every time I see someone swerve out around me in an SUV downtown then make an illegal left while blocking the intersection. Where are the cops? WHERE ARE THEY?! I pay tax dollars to catch idiots like that.

Where are they? They're out shooting turkeys. They're out with radar guns (since the speed deltas over the posted limits are so small they cannot be visually observed), quietly watching motorists going about their lives, picking them off for travelling 20% faster than they "should" be.

Sigh.

Get one of these, or build one, and hook it up to the back of your car. LOL. I actually plan to do this sometime in the future on a car I build from the ground up. (Think batmobile  ) F*** the police and a55hats that want to tailgate me! I will show them!

All of the taxis in our town are old cop cars. Still have the stickers in lots of cases. Wonder if they got to keep the engines? (I hear rumors of custom engine installs in cop cars)

+1

Stupid cabbies in Niagara even have similar style decals on the side... I think the company is called "5-0 cabs" or something
