An issue I can't figure out.... sticks at 2000rpm

OK so I noticed this only after I had my engine parts powder coated.... which entitles me taking apart the intake manifold and vaccum lines. Now I labeld everything to insure it all wen't back to normal... The car runs fine and great vaccum pressure is noraml when at idle I also sprayed around the engine to make sure there was no leaks and it's good, BUT I have now noticed that if I put the pedal to the floor and bring it up to about 5000 rpm and then put the clutch in it will sit at about 2000 RPM. It will sit there till I tap the accelerator pedal again and it will drop to normal.
I have cleaned the throttle body out, loosend the cable even more, made sure there was no air in the coolant lines, and just can't figure out what the deal is!
Although I did notice that if I am cruising on the highway and my RPM is around 5000 and I come off the highway it won't sit at 2000 it will go to normal! :crying:

Anyone have any ideas?? or had the same problem?

sounds like something is still sticking... especially if you can tap the accel pedal and it goes back to normal...

other ideas:
did you powdercoat the TB too? is it possible the IAC is clogged?
is the throttle linkage getting stuck because of the powdercoat?
pop your hood whne it is idling at 2000 and see what the throttle linkage looks like... if you barely touch it (as if you were tapping the accel pedal) maybe you can see where it's sticking?

yea... thats around 135-140khms! ahahh

Yea I will take a look when it's doing the 2000rpm and pop the hood....
I didn't powdercoat the TB so it can't be paint...
And the linkage was just taken off and that was it never painted or such... hmmmmmm

did you put your throttle cable back in the same position as before? its not kinked or routed in a tight bend?

Nope it's all original! I took pics of b4 so I could make sure it was done back to original....

Tapping your pedal kinda puts an unknown into the equation. At first I would of said your coolant thermostat was titters. When it reads cold your engine usually runs around 2 initially. Can you swap it out?

Your throttle position sensor could cause symptoms like that if its out of adjustment a little. Or a gummed up throttle body perhaps.

Yea I think I have to reset the whole throttle body... I mean right from scratch...
How the hell do I do that? I know I put it in Diag mode jumping ten and grd, then what!
