If you're getting a BP try to find a Gseries tranny for it. I don't believe they just come in autos, you should be able to find them in the manual proteges too. You can also check escorts and just swap the valve cover so it says mazda :)

G series tranny will give you slightly better acceleration (at the cost of gas mileage) but you will be getting a MUCH stronger box. You can always do a 5th gear swap too to get the better highway mileage.

well i was having trouble finding a 5sp bp the junk yard is rearranging so the computer was wrong. im not to worried about the trans right now. i yanked it and replaced the clutch like 2wks ago. it sucks because its a stock clutch paid like 35 for the disk new. it holds great on the b6 but well see. i live in ga near fort stewart and the highest speed limit in that town is 30mph (no shisssh) i just want to get the motor in and drive for now still needs alot of body work and stuff like that. if you think its best to get one from a escort gt i probaly can in like 2wks is it gonna be worth the wait or should i just keep moving with the auto.... if its gonna take me 2wks to put in the auto ill wait it out

I'm going to drop my BP in in 2 weeks.

If you get a mazda BP, thats really your best bet. Ford requires changing of valvecover, eventually putting in the MBSP, and either rednecking your fuel rail or getting a mazda one. Also, try NOT to get a 1991 motor. It has potential crank issues

Any tranny will bolt up. Doesn't matter what thats from. 5spd G series is 5spd G series. All bolt to everything.

Give yourself a few weeks to do it. The swap, without complications should be about 10hrs. (thats from turning it off in its parking spot to firing it up again)

People always mix up the fuel lines. Make sure the ground the motor well, also.

You'll want a 1993 MX-3 engine harness, the BP ECM, and if you're going the G tranny route your speedometer will chuck you a curve ball. (not sure, don't care. I'm keeping my F)

Do not put in an auto tranny. Thats just silly.
