I have a pgt myself so i know a bit about kl's there is a cheap auto mx3 for sale near me with a busted tranny, my wife will only drive auto so i'm thinking of getting it for her, but before i do i wanna know how much i should expect to pay for a tranny? i'm in canada btw.

hmm where is Canada are you? Also it depends some range from 300-600. You may be better off with the MX6 tranny... taller gears?? someone correct me if i'm wrong.

From Mazda? I'd guess 2k. Thats not from experience, thats just a guess.

You won't find, or rather, its very very rare that you will find a good used one.

If you do buy a new one, also find a tranny cooler kit. Thats what makes them bite the dust in the first place.

Do the KL auto trannies bolt up to the K8? I know the splines are different, but if they bolt up, you can probably get an KLZE auto tranny from an engine importer for CHEAP. If the ZE's only have 40-60k on them, the trannys should to! You could prob geta 30-60day warranty so you can make sure its good. At the engine importer in Albany, NY they wanted ~200 for an auto tranny.

You would just have to swap out hubs, or get custom axles if you went this route, I believe.

I sold my auto tranny for 80 dollars CDN.... and it had yet to experience any problems at 200k

300 is alot. i remember seeing a probe auto tranny on kijiji.ca for 140 cdn.


if you did the work yourself assuming you had no other problems along the way you could probably do it for less then 300.

the ATX trans are rather junk tho so beware when buying one. not sure how you would test it tho.
