SE interior question

Post by Racetracer »

I bought an MX3 V6 for a few crucial parts needed to swap a 2.5l into my escort.
The car had cloth covered front seats so, I did not even question whether it was an SE model or not.
But after thinking about it , the car does have leather trim everywhere else including the back seats and steering wheel..
This leads me to believe it was in fact an SE model and someone else is enjoying the leather front seats out of it :(

Any one know another quick way to determine whether the car is an SE (short of calling mazda) ?

Are you in Canada? If so there should be a sticker on the fender that has a maple leaf on it saying 25th anniversary. If it has the leather wheel and knob I would assume its a SE, what color is the door panel cloth in the car? Black?

The bottom cushion of the whole back seat area is leather in an SE, look for that. The wheels are a different design. Also, if it's a Canadian car there could still be 2 buttons for the heated seats on either side of the e-brake handle.

Compare it to this: http://mx-3.com/se/
KLZE-ed '94 RS/'92 GS hybrid -- It's complicated  -- Now somebody's winter beater
1999 Audi A4 2.8Q -- New ride

it is a US car , leather trimmed back seat cushion ..cloth centers dark purple pattern

so if it has any cloth it's probably not an SE?

I'd prefer it not be , I won't feel so bad about ripping it apart

what about VIN series? does anyone know the start/stop serial numbers for the SE ?

it's not an SE. they all have that outer black vinyl trim on the back seats. if that was an SE back seat, there wouldn't be any cloth at all, it would be all black leather

I agree... the steering wheel and shift knob would have heavy stitching on them as well...

Very good , I did not want to destroy a perfectly good SE and since it's not, now I can rip it apart with no remorse.
Thanks everyone

anyone needing a good running 1.8l V6 should pm me for further information
