I am thinking of Moving from my MX6 to an MX3 GS. Swap?

Post by Cross »

Ok I have a rather nice MX6 but I am thinking about moving to an MX3 as its my daily driver and well... I have always liked the MX3.

What I want to know is what can I transfer over, the tranny and motor obviously. But I am more concerned about the VR4 Brake Kit, Sway Bars, Endlinks, Millenia ECU or MegaSquirt (Which should also not be a problem), suspension and so on.

I have included everything I currently have (I just copied and pasted from my MX6.com VB Garage). What kind of advice can you give me here on this?

Mx6 - 5 Bolt hub

Mx3 - 4 bolt hub

There is a way to convert between the two, but you may have to do some fabbing!

Swaybars - NO! As far as I'm aware!

All the interior stuff will probably be different, and I know the bodykit stuff is. You can pull the drivetrain and the megasquirt, everything else will be custom work!

That was the first thing I noticed obviously. I was not sure if anyone had tried to do a 5 lug conversion. 4 lugs is fine by me but the VR4 swap may be easier if I go to 5 lug.

Granted I have never seen the hub and brake mounting setup for the MX3 so I am not sure I can modify it as easily to fit an MX3.

There are people who have done the conversion, but few and far between, as it doesn't do much for us besides allow different wheels.

Most people who do the conversion get new holes drilled in the hubs, but I believe you can swap hubs and some other pieces to make it work - if we can use mx6 struts w/ some modification, then the hubs should be close.

Information is here or on clubprotege somewhere, you will have to search!

I have been, but felt I would talk to those here and see what information I could gather.

My suggestion is swap it into MX3 GS, because the style and the max speed rate of that car are more up. And contain the element what we call CUSTOM steel plate.
