wow, well my tires lasted a long time, around 3 years if not more.

Im boosted... so I dont know if that makes a difference.

Anywho.. I was looking into a 225 45 r17 tire, my friend in his boosted mx3 had great success...

my current tires are 215 40r r17

so which is better? bigger? or smaller?

Bigger and wider = more traction but 17's are too heavy imo. 225/50/17 would be better but may rub a lil or not fit at all without spacers. imo 45 is too small and riding to much on the rim. But then again I have 225/50/15's

+1 on 17's not being the best for dragging, honestly go pick up a set of cheap 15's and stick some slicks on there to improve your time! (Or a street tire if you wish) Then you won't be wasting your tires at the tracks.

Best of both worlds

I've asking ym self the same question....what size of rims and tires to go with....finally i found some light weight 15s with 5 small spokes with 215 55r15s almost brand new...so i'll go pick them up friday....I should get bether fuel mialge and bether times on the 1/4 with those instead of the heavy steel rims for sure

17s tend to be for looks. Performance enthusiasts with the mx-3 mostly run lightweight 15s and 16s.

14's have very small tire selections from what I find.

+1 on lightweight wheels, they also help w/ cornering, and will make your car more comfortable than driving on 17's w/ low profile tires.

I've been thinking about this a lot too. I love my General Exclaim UHPs in 205/45R16. They were dirt cheap (like $60/tire) and even shredding the hell out of em they've got about 10k km left I figure.

Nonetheless they're too small for the ZE, and a little too firm for Montreal roads. I'm thinking my next tire will be a 225/50R16, or even 235/50R16 if I can fit them. Probably exclaim UHPs again if I can find them in that size, otherwise.. Ecsta SPTs?
