Well, you can get different thermostat temperature ratings...I believe the lowest I've seen is 160*F, just helps keep the motor a bit cooler since it opens at a lower temperature. I put a higher temp (195* I believe) in the 626 to get it hotter for the winter. I really don't know how they'll be "awesome", you shouldn't notice a difference. Maybe you'll get some HP having the motor run cooler, but unless your having actual problems, there shouldn't be a night-day difference.

Hmm, ya, I doubt that you'll get a Nissan thermostat that'll work in a Mazda...

Just a KL thermostat...you can get them at Canadian Tire. I don't believe they sell the 160*, but you won't want that one for the winter anyhow.

avoid jobber units, and if you want a bit cooler, drill holes (little) besides the jiggle pin at the top of the thermo.

Mazda P/N for your application: KL01-15-171A

Jesus, a thermostat is just a thermostat. Use the heat range the manufacturer recommends. In this case just buy one for a DE. End of POst!

Well no it all depends where you live. For example I live Miami Florida very hot in the summer so i use a 160 the one that comes from factory is 170 and on really hot day of 90 or higher and your going to be driving stop and go I take it out (thermostat). Most important is colant make sure you have a 50/50 Mix, so the bioling point will be lower. If it is real hot I use a 70/30 mix more colant then water with a additive that keeps water cooler( forgot the name).
