Would i be able to put a head off a 1.6 dohc on a sohc just was wondering if it would work.
Trying to figure out ways to make my 1.6 sohc have more power already replaced the coil with aftermaket one please some ideas. Thanks

BP swap. No the DOHC head won't fit, oil passages don't line up, the block is physically different. The whole timing system looks different.

The dohc head on the sohc block should work.
from my research its basically the same as putting the b6de head from our 94-95 mx3's, onto a b6t block.
You just need to plug the 2 extra oil drains in the front of the head.
There are also some small differences in the head gaskets.

IIRC Limegreenmx3 compared the 2 and there were 2 ports thats didnt line up completely but they were a matter of being a few MM off....
search for that post and it should give you all the info you need.

I guess that might work. Go to an autoparts store and buy headgaskets from both motors, and hold them up against eachother.

But still, good luck running the timing belt.

for the timing belt portion your going to need the dohc accessories.
as ryan posted you would be better off grabbing a bp to start off with, you would be at around the same cost and have more power with the bp.

Unless you could find a mx3 dohc 1.6 for cheap, you would be better off just grabbing a bp.

After you buy the bp sell me you sohc block on the cheap so i can build a screaming b6. :D
