Even if you can't figure out how to run it off the stock module, there are aftermarket DRL modules you can buy with full instructions. Cheapest I've found is at Canadian Tire.
If I recall correctly the stock DRL underpowers the high beam filament in the 9004 bulbs.

Ya, and HID no not like that at all!
If your really worried about DRL's, the LED's may do the trick, but you can also just use the low beams..i believe that's a trick some places use when getting a vehicle in from the US
