I'm hoping you have a v6, as you posted in the v6 section.

Fuel filter is beneath the rear seat, under the silver panel there. Check the online manuals found on the front page of this site, that will tell you all you need to know.

Seccond, its most likely the distributor... 9/10 a non starting mx-3 is the disty. Search on this website, (search function) and you'll learn all about the HEI mod.

well what do you with any car when it wont start?

check for spark, make sure its getting fuel. make sure the injectors are pulsing. when you do this and it still wont go, then try asking on the forums.

try putting gas in it??? if this works then just lie and say it was something else to us or else your going to look like a bird.

Filter is the black cylindrical thing below the master brake cylinder. It's mounted on the tranny.
(At the gas tank, shame on you Ryan.) I't not that easy to change. I found the rubber hoses difficult to get off. Anyway you'll need to remove the battery and battery shelf.

There are actually 2 filters, 1 at the tank and 1 in the engine bay.

Isn't the tank one a permenant screen that self cleans? Never heard of that one ever being changed.

I don't know about that but I remember reading about two in the manual, just giving my input.

Take a spark plug out and crank the engine a couple times. If you have fuel pressure (and your injectors are working), you'll see gas misting from the spark plug hole. You'll be able to smell it as well.

If you've got fuel and spark, your engine could be flooded or losing compression from a bad oil seal as well. This just happened to me a couple weeks ago. Try removing all plugs, cleaning them with a rag, then blowing compressed air into the cylinders for 5-10s to dry them out. Then add 5-10 drops of oil (maybe 1/2 a teaspoon) to each cylinder to help restore some of the seal. That did it for me.

Check the PCV Valve -- Mine broke right at the neck and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why it wouldn't start -- then I found the valve... you probably already have -- being new to the whole mechs myself! :D but the starting sounded like what I was going through. It wants to start -- but it isnt :S Just a suggestion! :D

A, I suck at explaining things.. and B. I know what it is and what it does... I just can't explain it! hahaha

so here's a link!

>.<
it's a one way breather valve that if it's not working properly there won't be enough compression... which is why my engine was turning over.... but wasn't starting... :S
