would the f25m-r bolt up in place of the f5m-r on a 93 se?

yes.
The F25M-R is the upgrade to the F5M-R.
The transmission section has a sticky thread for the tranny information.

Although whoever put a F5M-R on your SE was a freaking miracle worker. Thats a 4 cyl tranny.
You mean G5M-R. Yes, all v6 engines have interchangable trannies... at least on K series motors.

Witch Tranny is in the 92 Rs 4 cylinder? To my knowledge it is the G5M-R...

Mx3 4 cyls all have F series trannies. Noone is entirely sure when the cutoff happened, but if your reverse is synchronized, you have an F25M-R, if not, F5M-R
