i was wondering what all it takes to change the rear brakes from drum brakes to calipers? i have a 94 rs. not sure why they even use drums any more? there not that much cheaper and they don't work nearly as well.

You would need...
GS Rear spindles
GS Rear Hubs (replacement parts list doesn't differentiate between RS and GS but I am certain their different)
GS Brake rotors, calipers and dust shields
GS E-Brake Cables
GS rear brake hoses
GS Rear Trailing Links (RS ones will not fit the GS Spindles)
GS Brake master cylinder
GS Proportioning valve. Front one for sure but probably the rear also.
Parts List can be found in the online manuals page
HERE.

Disassembly is a bi-otch because the bolts that pass through the spindle are absolutely always seized and the hub nuts are staked and torqued to like 3 mmillion lb-ft so you'll need a 3/4" ratchet and an 8' breaker bar. Once you get it all apart, if you have good replacement parts in nice condition it's not too bad. I've taken a couple rear ends apart now and it's a lot of work to get it apart, but it's pretty simple stuff mechanically speaking. Put it all together and bleed the brakes and you're golden.
