I'm looking for one dimension from a pre 94' RS LCA!!!

Post by wytbishop »

Hey everybody. I need a hand confirming a couple key pieces of information for the bushing group buy.

The parts man at my local Mazda dealership has told me that the part number for the LCA rear bushing changes for RS models in June 94'. I want to confirm this by having as many RS owners as I can check the size of their bushing. Cars made before 06/94 should have a 46mm bushing diameter and ~48mm wide bracket. RS models made 06/94 and later should have a 40mm diameter with the same bracket width. GS models should all be the same with the larger size.

The Trailing Arm of the rear suspension also has a different part number for RS and GS cars. They do not change by year. The Rs and GS models have always had separate part numbers and they have not changed. The front bushing (in the body) should be 40mm OD and ~46mm width, but I think the rear bushing (bolted to the rear spindle) has a different width. Don't worry about the front one. It's hard to get to and I am confident that they are all the same. I would appreciate it though if a few of you RS owners wouldn't mind measureing the diameter and width of the rear one.

I need to confirm these before I order the molds, but I can't find an RS at the wreckers. I would like to have a few guys with stock RS's both pre and post 94' verify these dimensions. There is also the slim chance that Canadian models could differ from American models.

I really hope a few of you can help me out with this. Thanks a lot guys.

EDIT: I have gotten most of my question answered by Ryan. I still need to know the diameter of the shaft that the rear bushing of the Front Lower Control Arm is mounted to. If any of you have an old LCA from an RS model in your parts pile, please help me out.

Thanks.

If it stops raining before my car sells, I'll check on my 95 RS. Currently its pouring out right now, and I have a broken rib so its difficult to lay on the ground, but I'll do it if its dry out. I don't feel like getting soaking wet and putting myself in pain at the same time lol.

Here's what I came up with. I had no caliper, sorry, this is the best I could do for now.

Its really hard to get to these things without dismantling all of it...

Oh, and I forgot the widths! I can try again on saturday.

Both ends of trailing arms and...both ends of both lat links... thats everything... lol.

Oh, BTW, this is an Canadian 93 RS

That's awesome Ryan. Thank you.

I am not worried at all about the lateral links. Only the rear trailing arm bushing diameter and width and front LCA rear bushing (that is the rear bushing of the front Lower Control Arm) diameter and width. Widths are very important.

If anyone else can help out that would be fantastic.

What you did there was fine. I just need the width of that trailing arm rear and a couple shots of the LCA rear ...and the same stuff from a 95' RS.

Thanks Ryan.

Can anybody do something like that for the rear bushing of the Front Lower Control Arm of an RS? Ryan? Could you make one more trip?

Not today, but Friday I can. FLCA. I've never really looked at my front suspension, but this will be like a lateral link? run parallel to the axle? You want the hub side or the car side?

On the frame there are 2 bushings. The front one is not a problem. The rear one is in it's own bracket which bolts to the frame. I need the diameter and width of the bushing in that bracket.

Part 11

Part #11 is the one in question. The part to the left of the 2 is also part #11 just a different view.
