A/C Clutch

My a/c squeals bad when the compressor engages, and sometimes with the a/c off. I canged the belt and tightened to spec. It squeals even worse now. I was told it could be the a/c compressor's clutch. Has anybody had any experience with this, and if so which part do I change?(brushes, bearings, hub)

A new belt stretches a bit and gets loose after first use - inspect it again and tighten it if needed. If it still squeals then its time to get the A/C system inspected. Also keep in mind that the power steering pump is on the same belt - if it puts too much load (dirty fluid) then it may cause the belt to squeal when A/C load is added.

Rechecked the belt, still within specs. Checked the PS pump, and it spins freely. The a/c is starting to squeal lightly without the a/c on. So, it looks like it is the clutch assy. Just wondering if anybody has replaced one before as ours is the kind that can be replaced. The auto parts store sells the hub, bearing, and install kit. Just didn't know how involved it is going to be and I can't find anything in the manual (online or paperback).
