i just got my valve cover gasket replaced, and now my car is riding real rough. i think its miss firing too. every time i give it gas its really rough. When i drive it, it kinda sputters. could it be a problem with my distributor? i was told before that id need a new one but before the valve ccover gasket the car was running ok. can someone help? i have a 95 mx-3 dohc 1.6

do you trust the tech? If the car was running good before you took it in for something as simple as a swapping out valve cover gaskets, and he told you, you would need something else and then your car started acting strange. I've caught people Tampering with me to cost people more money.

check the order of the plug wires. also check that they are fully engaged with the plugs.

Silly question - but did the intake hose to the valve cover and the PCV valve
hose get connected back up properly?

Also check the IAC valve hose

I'm with EGR on this one. Don't trust the Tech unless you know him. They secretly tamper and Fubar stuff so you'll come back. They get lonely sometimes, they just want some company. If you can't do it yourself, then, well, do it anyway! You're bound to get it right eventually

In all seriousness, The tech could have accidentally moved the disty a bit. I dont know why he would be near that unless your tech replaced the seal on the disty. Your tech might not have put silicon in all the "needed" areas. That would allow oil to seep out and possibly air to seep in. Also, just in case, check your intake hose for cracks.

Never go to that idiot mech again. Screwing up a valve cover gasket replacement on a 4cly is so lame. EGR could probably of done the job better,,,maybe.
