No tranny replaced, but now to the Idle issue.

Post by BradKY »

At the moment I have been having the same issue as many other people has, when I have the AC on and sometimes with the AC off the car will idle down in reverse and stall, sometimes when the car is in park and give it gas it'll idle low and then stall it seems its getting worse now, it does it in drive also. It never does keep idle so when you do try to idle it up its a waste of time. Anyone have any fixes? Could the car need a new alternator? Because when I seem to use more battery power it causes it to idle low.

"Could the car need a new alternator?"

No.

The a/c sends a signal to the ecu to idle up the engine. Verify this signal makes it to the ecu. Easiest way is unplug the compressor clutch and hit the button. Idle should go up. Make sure the iac passages are clean. Make sure the tps is adjusted correctly. Make sure the minimum air screw is adjusted correctly. Make sure your ignition timing is correct.
