damn 60'

i went back to the track yesterday, was full as usual because of the nhdra qualification.
i'm aiming for a 12.99 since i was running constent 13.5 with crappy 2.3-2.2 60'

dropped the drag radial to 18psi(14'') 2step launch @4psi at 4000 rpm, almost powershift the second gear, did near to perfect run each time, but couldn't get any better start than 2.2...
i'M tottaly sure i can hit 12.9 or at least a flat 13 if i can get 2.0 60' times.

should i aim to a set of M/T or is ther anything i dont get?
there's so many honda there that do 2.0 all the time with such a crappy 1/4 times.

i have BFG drag radials... 205 50 15. last fall i was cutting fairly consistant 1.9x - 2.0x 60' times with the tires at 15 psi and no two step. i'd launch at ~5500 and slip the crap out of the clutch... ride out 1st all the way to the revlimiter, the gap between 1st and 2nd on these trannies is ridiculously huge.

thanks i'll try that, but it's pissing me off not to be able to get lower than that

last friday i tried for the first time to let go off the clutch slowly with the launch control. got me a couple of 2.3

when i drop it i get constent 2.2, spin only first gear from 4 to 6k rpm.
powershift the second gear and the tires makes the gripping sounds for half a second, and i'm gone.

i think i'll honda the trac next time, rev the first one further, and try to start in second gear too

i getting 2.2 ALL the time, slip in first and not at all in second, i still cross the line hitting rev-limiter @ 108mph... how am i suposer to go faster, i mean, if i shift the 5th i loose 1/2 sec...

i'll defenitly start in second gear next time

try ur Drag radial at 12-14 psi i had them at that and my slicks at 12psi lunching a 5000-5500 rpms with out 2step easy on the throttle when i felt them grip ball to the ball full throttle quick shifting. it takes practice and getting to know ur MX-3.. hitting the the rev limiter slows u down i shifted just before i hit it.. 2 step is good and all but with a stock rear end suspension it squats bad and raise the front end meaning wheel spin and ur not rear wheel drive.. it helps to heat up the tires by peeling out for a while.. cold ties don't do s--- and drag radials don't heat up as fast as slicks my best times where on slicks.. my best time on D.Radials was a mid 12s knowing ur tree helps 2 if ur taking off on green ur taking off to late the last yellow light u see or as soon as u see all 3 yellow light u book it. u have to know ur gears ur rpms ur max mph on 1 2 3 4 gear i took the time to know what my MX-3 like and didn't like trial and error that why i got the times i got. there more to drag racing than taking off when the lights come on.. stress and nervousness can take its toll don't worry about the driver next to u worry about urself block them out always work for me.. the more practice u have and trying new stuff that works the faster u get along with being clam.. screw the driver next 2 u..

thanks lime; i went back last friday, and it's all the same stories

i tried everything

full start on street tires,
second gear launch on street tires
drag radial with 2 step,
drag radial with second gear launch(bad idea)
etc
i got 2 2.20 60' tried to over rev the first gear before shifting like if my life depends on it,
still in the mid 13...

my drag radial was about 18psi, i will drop them again tonight.i'm considering the easy way(upping the boost) since i cant get to nothing good as it is now(doing 50 run/month)

one of my friend want to lend me his slicks so that i can try some new tires... we'll see

i'm suposed to head back to the track tonight, i'll post back news
