Ebay cold air intakes

Post by Leedeth »

I searched and found that it's been said that Integra CAI kits off ebay can fit on the MX-3. But there's so many and I have no idea which one is the one that fits. Are the kits all interchangable with the K8, B6 DOHC and SOHC, or do they only work on one?

http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=63572" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All the links are dead.

http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=44545" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This thread, it looks like the K8 has the intake at a different angle than the B6.

I believe there are cai kits for the sohc. I can't find the one that I normally see.

Here is one from Germany. It looks like it would work on the dohc as well.

It's funny if you read the info a little lower down. I guess our engines are not inline 4's... they must be v4's

That's far too expensive for a CAI.

I need to know what year Integra or Prelude CAI will fit on an MX-3. I'm sure some of you here have bought them off ebay, so which one did you all get?

No, that's still pretty cheap. Look into AEM or WeaponR is you think that's pricey.

So, I did some searching on your behalf. That SEARCH button is the Kat's-A$$.

you'll have to cut it at the middle bend. From there you can either route it down or put the filter right on it. Keep the nipples to the TB side. Pretty hard to mess it up.

My bad, I didn't provide the links.

That Prelude intake doesn't look like it's long enough to fit, and it doesn't have the right bends I don't think.

I would prefer to have a 2 piece, it's easier that way since it has more connecting hardware, I won't have to hunt down extra parts.

"cold air intake" search in 4 cyl Tech, topic titles only: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/search.php?k ... uthor=&fid" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;[]=3&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

"integra cold air intake" ebay search, sorted lowerst price first: http://search.ebay.ca/integra-cold-air- ... QQsbrsrtZl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

"prelude cold air intake" ebay search, sorted lowerst price first: http://search.ebay.ca/prelude-cold-air- ... QQsbrsrtZl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The problem is there's so many different CAI's to choose from, and I don't know which one will fit the best.

This one looks like it will fit with a simple cut to cut it shorter, will it work?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/94-01-ACURA-INTEGRA- ... dZViewItem" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This one looks like it will fit with a simple rotation of the second pipe downwards.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/92-96-HONDA-PRELUDE- ... dZViewItem" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Would this fit?

How about this?

Keep in mind you need two air nipples, one to feed the Idle Air Control and
the other for the valve cover. Those Honda pipes look like they only have one.

Well, that's what most people use for the dohc. I don't quite know what you are expecting here. The link I provided should work just fine. All this is going to do is make more noise and look nice.
Search for the topic "lets see your engine bays" You'll see a few there.

If the pipe is over 18" with a bend at the tb, it'll work. I don't know what you mean by "having the right bends"?? That's probably why I said you have to cut it.... then if you so choose... point it down. All you need is an extra coupler... umm go to a parts store and get one for $10. Not too hard to track down. Or you may cheap out and get plumbing parts.

Anyways, I did not bother to check your links out.. I stand by last post.

Good luck.

Ok, I did look at your links.

I'm correct as is Mr. Mi|<E. Quit being a wuss and buy an extra coupler... and some hose/gear clamps.

Well I expect a 90" curve off the TB, and the filter looks bent coming off the Prelude intake. I know it has to be cut.

That was uncalled for. I don't even know what I'm doing here, so I'm just trying to cut out any variables that might pop up, you know?

Sorry dude. But you can piss a guy off by second guessing his help.

The bottom line is:
This is soo damn cheap that you really can't go wrong. If you need a silicone coupler you can get 90's, 45's, reducers.... You can always make that part work. Having to weld a nipple on an aluminum pipe is not cheap or easy.

So almost any Integra or Prelude intake will work as long as it has two air nipples?

Also I did look at some of those engine bay pics, and I'm wrong, it doesn't have to be a 90" curve off the TB, but it is a sharper curve than what would go on a V6.

EDIT: I didn't know they were called silicone couplers. :(

Here is the cold air intake made for the 4 cylinders, SOHC. It will fit fine
for the DOHC engine even though it says SOHC only. I had it on my DOHC
B6 and its even on my BP now till I get my standalone sorted.

http://www.aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=1320" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Comes with everything you need to bury the filter in the wheel well and seal it from the top. They have been on ebay for 50-60 bucks which is where I got mine but I havent seen them recently.

I know this is an old post but I was reading because I am looking for a new cold air intake, I have the prm but it is cracked really bad. Anyway about the two air nipples? one for air control and the other for the valve cover. I am only using one and the one that goes to my valve cover comes from just above the tb on the manifold. I was looking at engine bay pics and cant figure out where the smaller air nipple hose goes because my mx3 runs and idles great and on my prm intake I just plugged the small air nipple and only use the fat one at the oem black acordian hose. Anyway I was wondering where the small hose goes because I dont use it and was going to get the bomz intake for the 94 integra gsr.

Does anyone know if the mx6 cold air intake will fit. I found one from the above link at aspec and one on ebay. Aspec shipping was way too much $125 to canada?

http://www.aspecproducts.com/images.asp?theid=1242" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am thinking that intake will work?
thank you
