Side Exhaust opinions

Post by 94drumx3 »

I'm going to build a catback exhaust as zzzoomx3 did, however it came across my mind that i might do a side exhaust. and then i started gettin ridiculous with it and thought 5 exhuast pipes coming out of each side. hahaha, well i decided to get a little more realistic.
So what does everyone think of having a dual exhaust coming out each side of the car?

kind of like this

haha i probably WOULD go deaf! they get loud there!

yeah i'd have the body kit and i'm thinking i'd have to cut out some space for it and everything and make the bottom of it flush with the bottom of the side skirts...cause it already sits pretty low

it wouldnt be any louder than what you have now probably - i used to have my exhaust stop right under the front seats and it was only capped off with an exhaust tip (long story) and it was pretty loud - before i built my exhaust - now with my exhaust complete and with a muffler, its still loud - but i like it :) it sounds much meaner and beefier than a ricer cricket exhaust.

In the "lets see your engine bays" thread the guy with the ice racer has his exhaust exiting through the rear fender. He might have a resonator but I doubt it.

Now that's loud.

aha!! there it is!
yeah, its definitely unique!
and ice racing looks fun! lol
not EXACTLY how i'd want mine, but the general idea of that.
i'm thinkin dual exhaust out each side but to run along the bottom with the side skirts. pretty much exactly like in the picture i posted. both sides of the car tho.

I say try it out...I think it can look good and/or bad depending on car/how it is done. I should have got pics when I had the chance, but we had an older probe at the shop, with custom side skirts, that he made cut-outs in each side just in front of the rear wheels and had rectangular tips sticking out each side. I really liked it and it went well with shape of the car (boxy). It also sounded real nice, very loud on the dyno.
