Stalls when oil filler cap is released

Hi,

I noticed by drive belt was squeaking, so was under the bonnet checking things, one thing I do is to take the oil cap off while running ( with some rag around to stop splashes ) to listen for noises/blowby etc.

When I took the cap off, the engine stalled. I tried again, and opening the cap means the engine shuts down.

I am sure it did not do this before, what could be wrong ? A blocked part of the emissions control system perhaps ?

i dunno why you would do that, must make a real mess of things... that is typical tho. ppl even have their cars stall when pulling the dipstick while it's running. i suppose this happens since the crankcase is supposed to be pressurized under normal conditions

Its normal, it causes a vac leak when you do it. If you are venting the pcv to the atmosphere and dont have it connected to the intake, it wont stall.

Mine used to stall until i did the mod.(for boost)
