ok, so i have a 1995 mazda mx-3 precidia with a dohc 16- valve engine
its my first car i bought some subs from my buddy hooked them up with a deck and 4 jbl speakers im runnin 2 10 inch premier subs with a 800 watt rms pioneer amp the amp is enough to run the subs easily and for not that well known or high end subs they sound amazing in the car. then about a week after of pumpin the subs loud whenever i started to turn the car on it squeaks, the alternator belt is slippin. i had the stock 75 amp alternator in there and tried swappin it to a 85 amp alternator from a mazda 626 it worked for a bit and sure enough the squeaking is back
i dont know if there is anything i can do other than buy a high end alternator with more amps?? and if i need to buy a new alternator anybody got any for sale or no of any??!! let me know cus it sure is starting to piss me off. thanks alot!!

be careful tightening it too much - it should have a certain amount of flex (found in the manual somewhere)

8mm in the longest stretch of untouched belt. well 8mm is for a new belt and 6 mm is for a older one.

Mine does it on start up, just a little chirp. It changes with the weather, and If the engine is warm it usually doesn't do it. Sometimes in winter it doesn't stop until I rev it a bit. I have a new belt. I went under my hood with a 10mm wrench and a 4' crow bar, loosed off the alternator, and heaved on that thing and tightened it back up. Its a lot better now. Also, when you get out of the car, turn everything off. Fan, A/C, stereo. Make the power draw as low as possible for when you start it up next time. Its really loud and annoying, but luckily I have no one to impress so I'm not embarassed by it

Edit: I have a '93 SOHC

I heard something about lubeing it a bit with WD40? Someone back me up on this, I'm not sure. If that belt perma slips because its too lubed, it would be like having no alternator.... and I don't want to be responsible for that.

it may not even be the belt. it could be that the rad hose is leaking onto the pulley on the crank

actually i was outside takin a look at it the other day and my neighbour came up to me and said either wd40 or some sort of belt lube works, but now that i think of it wont that make it slip even more...

Actually you may want to use actual belt dressing, I done know about wd40 but I know some chemicals can damage your belt.
