Even my 1992 GS ECU can't be chipped, i don't think it matters what year just what the emprom chip # is, i could be wrong

OBDI and OBDII are really 2 different systems. OBDI systems are pretty much each proprietary to each manufacturer, OBDII is a standard across the board for all manufacturers. I'd believe it that he wouldn't make an OBDII Probinator, much more complex of a system with a standard diagnostic interface along with more advanced emission controls.

There's the very first Mx-3's ECU that's can't be programmed. It's believed to be the early '92. How to tell (although it not confirmed it seems to of held true to date) is that the early 92's, the top circuit board is full length, it is the entire size of the ECU chassis. The later ones, the top circuit board is only 2/3 the size. The size doesn't really make a difference, it's just that with that that used different components/circuitry (essentially a more efficient design) and with that change, includes the chip that can be replaced with a Probinator.

The ECU's in early 92's were different from the rest of the model years if I have my FAQs straight. I also have two early production 92 GS's (both built in Dec 91) and they're ECU's are not chippable either.

My Mx-3 is made is Dec 91 as well and I have the full-sized board and it's not chippable
