Im sure you all read the story about the Cargo ship that was carrying all those Mazdas and tilted

http://autos.canada.com/news/story.html ... 55aad049ed

well it turns out that all of them will be crushed instead of fixed and sold at a cheaper price

Thats Crazy. :? First off how did a ship like that manage to turn a whole 60ยบ, and why was it there for so long? And couldn't they spare any of parts? I mean I understand that they didn't want almost 5000 lemon cars under the Mazda name but to smash absolutly everything? They slashed all the tired and mentioned the CD players as well, sure not the most expensive pieces of a car but the totals do add up when you're talking that many cars, they possibly could have saved parts like that.... something could have been done right? Why couldn't they leave them in a lot, make you sign a waiver, and then salvage a certain ammount? for free, since they weren't allowed to make money under their insurance. things like rims, tires, body panels, and a whole lot more would still be perfect... but I suppose people would salvage 1000 cats and then sell them for $200 000.... but I think autobody school could have used them at least...

Thats nuts.

classic case of procedure over common sense :(

So bloody wasteful, thoroughly shameful.

Who's up for writing a petition , to donate project cars to a Mazda community for testing and research purposes , including a disclaimer that we cannot negatively comment publicly on anything on the car due to the fact that the problems may have happened in the accidents.

I mean what should Mazda care it's just a tax write off for them ..

They dont want "problematic" cars in the mix. Especialyl if they are new. It could ruin their good name. I would have doen the same. Better to loose some money than to make none.
