I got a 93 Mx3 with some bad rust. Around the rear wheel wells, and doors. I thinking of cleaning it up and bondoing it up. Is this a good idea or is there better ways. I guess im asking for any tips or advice for repairing the rust.

Need to know any more information just ask!.

Thanks.

I would recommend welding in patch panels around the wheel wells, if its anything like NY winters the bondo will bubble and re-rust in one winter around the wheel wells. I am actually going to have to do the same thing to the 93 I am getting this weekend. My summer is going to be spent learning "teh bodyworks!"

the best thing to do is sandblast/cut out the rust and re-weld in plates, but thats pretty difficult and takes some skill...

Yeah it does. I have to do the same if i plan to keep the crapshack. but by looking at the lines more closely, they aren't all that complex. Sure, it will take skill, but you won't have to be an expert for these cars. Nice free-flowing lines, you can't beat it (unless its a box).

If an area is too complex for 1 piece, use several smaller pieces to get the rough shape that you're after, bondo will do the rest, provided its not crazy think.

that was what I was thinking, the lines look nice for making my own panels, and I'll just have my buddy weld it up, he's been welding for years, he built a nice '48 plymouth hemi coupe when he was 16, it was 1982 when old mopars were cheap. :welder:

I'm a driveway/shade tree mechanic myself, I just prefer it to being in a garage on a nice day. I think I am going to have to invest in a mig welder as well.
