I have a thread posted in the V6 FAQ (http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=53706" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) with a HEI mod diagram I made up, I was wondering if it could be updated to add this diagram for the HEI Mod + External Coil diagram I just made up.



There's so many of these diagrams floating around, some of them have conflicting information, and others are hard to follow. I just did mine, so this is how I wired it up, using Gro Harlem's diagram, and it works. Since it works, I understand how to wire it up and made a diagram accordingly.

Couple of things - its not 1000k ohm resistor - its either 1000 ohms or 1k ohms. Also are you sure you connected the resistor to the coil +ve (blue wire) - because the coil +ve is constant 12v - only the coil -ve pulses with the ignition and provides the tach signal....

Aw, come on man, I was just about to solder in a 1000000ohm resistor too...

You're right on both counts. The first one was a typo, I was thinking both 1000 and 1k at the same time (hey, my color code is right! ), and yep, it's wired to the ground not the positive, that's a mistake, I'll fix that shortly when I change back to my desktop

ok so where do you get the disty cap with a external coil output? ok do u have to hack it up as ive heard from PT (probetalk)

Not sure what happened, but I fixed the image
