air intake check engine light on?

air intake check engine light on?

k tonight me and my buddy just put a cone on my intake by taking half the air box out and just putting the cone on. the air sensors still there but it was unplugged for abotu 30 seconds when we started the car and theres a 1/4inch tube that went into the top half offthe air bix just sitting there now. and my check engine light is on what did i do wrong?

you started the car with the maf/vaf not plugged in... thats what you did wrong.

Unplug the ground and power from the battery, go press the brake down for 1 min, hook the battery back up crank and CEL light will be gone, if it comes back on you've done something else

The code probably threw when you started the car with the maf/vaf sensor unplugged. It's likely not a legitimate code. Disconnect the negative terminal on your battery for a few minutes, also hold down the brake pedal for a few seconds while the battery's disconnected. This should reset your ecu.

If the code comes back, then you have a problem.

That 1/4 hose I belive is just for the EGR solenoid. I don't think it really needs filtered air, but you can buy one of those tiny little filters to put on the end of the hose if you want.

Damn... I hate when 2 people post at the same time, but you beat me fair and square. Although... my answer did take longer to type. :wink:

One thing I really hate is when you post a reply to somebody's question, and then someone else posts quite sometime after, saying the exact same things that you just said, without even acknowledging that you just said it.
