Savin's '94 RS (Scrapped) RIP

Well the mx-3 has been in the family for a while now, first starting with my brother then it being my mom's now its all mine and its time to make the beginings of a worklog. Its bone stock aside from some cheapo dropzone springs because the stock ones rusted until they broke. for as long as its been in the family, roughly 3 years, its always had its dimple but the front bumper is a different story.

Things to do list:
get it running right (rebuild of engine, oh joy)
fix the outside to "like-stock" then go from there (new hood, fenders, crash bumper (core bumper), doors maybe.
fix or replace the back seat as it is torn
new exhaust, old one rusted and blew apart.
rims and tires *is currently sporting the steel rims look*
(sorry for the pixelated shots i had to lighten some because they were too dark)

Now with the new-ish bumper cover on:

interior and engine shot will come eventually, i can't assure you soon though. I still got a T-bird to finish up.

Looks like your mx-3 got in a big fight. I take it, your mx didnt win?
All joking aside...You do have alot of work, but just focus on one thing at a time and everything will start falling into place. Good luck man and may the force be with you on this one.

thanks alot guys. i hope to get it running right eventually. i have to get the thunderbird done first though. and yes, it did lose a fight with a chevy 1500 towing back to the dealer. we didn't know the core bumper was also plastic. the tow strap ripped through then to cover for my brother, my mom bought it.

which part? lol the engine or interior? I'm not gonna bother cleaning the engine until i rebuild it, not much sense since it goes through more oil than gas. as for the interior, yeah i need to, but its too cold out. i would put it in the garage but the birdy is in there. and its only a 1-car garage :crying:

Seriously, You would feel one million times better about your car if you would clean her up a bit. How would you like it, if you were covered with filth, but no one would let you take a bath, and you couldn't get any water to take a bath in. got me?
I would start by throwing out any trash. Then vacume it out. If you dont have any interior cleaner, just use a wet rag. If you dont have any smell goods for your car, just spray some fabreese or something in there. As for the exterior, If there is anything that you could fix, take it off. (example: fender) If the fender is alittle dinged maybe, throw alittle bit of bondo on it, sand it,primer, done. I'm just giving ya some idea's. i know how i am, and if my car has any dirt or any trash in it, i cant get in it.
Have fun with the car and try alot of the stuff on your own, body wise...
good luck again bro.

I hear ya Smooth, I hate the car being dirty too, but until i get it working right i can't take it to a car wash with the high power vacs. mine just sucks (no pun intended). As far as fenders and such, i'll tinker with em a bit, try my best but for extra safety, theres a beautiful white mx at a local junkyard that im gonna see if i can buy. its just got a little surface rust, thats it. all the parts i need are good off it, maybe even the engine. i just need to wait till half price day :)

Thanks again for the support everyone.

Hey, Car has seen better days. I had a 93 that was in rough shap. all you can do is pic at one thing at a time. Dont get 5 or 6 projects on the go cause you will get lossed with it. and stuff will never get finished.. just set a goal with a for one project. nothing to big to start off. And go on from there. This work log will show all the work that you do. and how far you have gone.

Good luck.

Well yeah, savin. If you could get a mx-3 for parts, then do that. Like kirk said though, stay on one thing at a time and you'll have that thing lookin pimp in no time.

Some good news: the TPS that i got from the junkyard works i think, the car seems to run better. its still stubborn about goin in reverse but thats another day.

I'm almost done with the T-bird, just gotta finish up exhaust and fluid lines, oh and the door too. so by next weekend the mx should be goin in the garage for me to rip out the engine and tinker with body work. in other words i got a week to go buy a grinder and body hammers :D

So, I thought I should update now considering i've actually attempted body work on it. The rust is a lot worse than first thought, I guess sitting all winter didn't help it. I took apart the back interior and cleaned out all the rust in there. Only 1 small hole leading to the outside to account for, not bad. Today since it was nice out, I decided to use the angle grinder and body hammers. It looked better with rust on it, now its got rust holes all over. The bottoms in front of the rear tires are rusted out and above the driver-side rear is rusted out as well. As I moved to the passenger side...ITS BEEN IN A PRETTY DARN BIG COLLISON in its life. At least 1/4 inch thick bondo all the way down to the rear bumper. It's depressing, but I will keep going but i have to find a way to rectify that thick a** bondo situation..maybe lead?

Anyway, I thought I'd share my times with the "crapshack"

Pics of the newly discovered damage will come soon, i just have to borrow my sister's camera...again lol.
