Hello i am planning to do a motor swap. I have a mx-3 with the 1.6 shoc. the motor is blown so i have been doing lots of searching on the forum here. my question is i am going with the BP-ZE and from what i understand its almost a direct swap. it uses the same wiring harness with a few minor modification, stock motor mounts, and stock tranny. is this all correct and if so has anyone encuntered any major issues when doing the swap? thanks for all the help. BTW is this clutch a good ne for the swap http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Escort-E ... enameZWDVW" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

because if i do the swap i plan to replace all the wear parts i can

Im also wondering about the samething. I have the same engine which i have no clue what the stock horsepower on that is. But my difference is i would want to do the KL-ZE swap (since its like 200hp)which i dont know how possible it is. i know that i would have to change transmission and ecu and i think maybe drve shaft? i dont know i would love to do it. but if it is impossible what would be the most horsepower engine i would be able to swap?

Yes, the miata bpze engine will fit. From what I've read, you will need to replace alot of parts from a Protege, cause of the rwd miata parts. The bpze is about 155-160hp I think. Not positive.

And if your going to swap a klze in an I4 Mx-3. It's totally possible. But understand, you will have to swap everything in the engine bay. (engine, tranny, axles, harness, hoses, pumps, racknpinion, etc. It would be easier to sell your I4, and buy a GS

well i was reading on the forum here and they listed them as coming in the 90-94 protege lx and when i looked it up it was listed as a FWD but it could be misinformation too.

There a couple versions of the BP, which came in Protege's. But the BPze is the rwd miata.
