Pretty much, I do a lot of rendering working with After Effects so I needed the power so I didn't have to sit here for hours waiting:)

Sweet. That's just like the one my roommate built for me. He's an engineer at Intel, and he got me some chip that hasn't been released.

With certain server mobo's you can have a dual quad core computer......but that costs like 10k minimum...haha.

I love computers. I'm runnin an AMD 64 x2 5600+ OC'd to 3.2 ghz w/ only 3 gigs of ram. I didnt splurge on my video card I just got a decent SLI 256mb dx10....I shoulda gotten one of the 320's because they have more than 2x the memory interface that mine does :(. I wanted to spend the extra $100+ on my car though.

nice:)
I had that motherboard, gave me nothing but grief though. Got the same processor too though not OC which isn't like me! I use my set up for protools for recording my band. Bet those HDs were a hard hit with 10k. I'm just running 4 cheaper ones instead - protools divides the tracks onto each of them :)

It wasn't to bad on the hard drive (newegg is your friend when its on sale) the WD 500gig @7200 were only 50 a piece so i might pick up a few of those, I'd really like to get a raid controller but thats another 350 so for now onboard will work, and i'm hearing mixed reviews about the motherboard, I'm still in messing with the bios trying to get it all 1:1 or as close as i can. This seems to be a pretty decent setup so far, though I just started using vista and well its starting to annoy me but i'm still messing with things in it.
