i know this is more then likely played out but can you interchange bp parts from a mx5 to a 323 engine and if so what parts can you use

part 2
i have a mx3 with a B6-2E and i was going to put a bpt in would i look for a B6-2E clutch or a bpt clutch and if possible a bp clutch

There are a few parts that can be swapped over. The front(T.belt side) and the back(clutch/flywheel) side are where most of the swapable parts are. You have to be more specific as to which parts you are trying to swap. The SOHC engines from the 323's probably don't have as many parts to swap compared to the DOHC engines.

If you swap to the BP engine, I would recommend finding the right gearbox to go with it(G25-MR). Use the clutch/flywheel combo for the gearbox you would be using.

u mean a B6-ME 1.6 sohc 16 valve its that what u mean they where in the 92-93 4cly models..

i see where u get B6-2E from Wikipedia

1.6 L (1597 cc) B6-2E - (78x83.6 mm), also known as B6-ME - This was a variant of the B6-E with a 16-valve cylinder head. It is found in the 1992-1994 California-spec Mazda 323 and 1992-1996 Mazda MX-3. The B6-ME produced 88 hp (66 kW) and 96 ft·lbf (130 N·m).

That article needs correction. The SOHC was in 92-93 and the DOHC is in 94-96. The 8-Valve SOHC makes 88hp and 96tq while the DOHC makes 105hp and ~100tq (for what i can find on the torque). Does the Mx-3's DOHC have VICS?

the 92-93 mx-3 has a 1.6 sohc 16 valve

I'm surprised that the SOHC has as many valves as the DOHC. I'd figure it would of been an 8-valve or even a 12-valve like the F-series

yeah the advantage of the DOHC is that is better for tuning. When you get down to timing, you can make some impressive changes by adjusting the intake or exhaust cams. Unlike a SOHC, the intake and exhaust are together with no room to play with different set ups =( I think thats why the DOHC 1.6 makes 105HP and the SOHC 1.6 makes 88HP

Anyways back to topic. Buddy, if you are going to swap a BPT into your MX-3 you will need a G series transmission + axles. It would handle the power better than your stock F series transmission. You will need the G series clutch and flywheel. If you want to do a light weight flywheel, this is what you need to do. Go buy a 1.8L miata light weight flywheel and pressure plate and then buy the G series clutch disc which comes from a 91-94 escort/ pretege 1.8L. Hope that clears it for you :D
