Where can I get new cyl. head bolts for my 94 MX-3 DOHC?

Post by GringoEJS »

Our 94 MX-3 has been down for months. I had to buy a used cylinder head, had it completely reworked, and now I can't find new head bolts outside of the Mazda dealer. They want $12 per bolt, and I cannot justify buying 10 bolts for more than I can get a used motor for. Had I not already bought a head and had $170 of work done to it, I would just swap motors.
So, where is the best place to find new head bolts? Will head bolts for a different car (more common) work?
Thanks in advance

Try summit, if you know the actual bolt.
you might be able to find out from the miata guys, I've been told its
practically the same engine. ARP makes great stuff, and is usually pretty
good for price.

I just re-used mine. They are not a Torque to Yield bolt.. so as long as they arent pitted or stretched.. they are just fine to reuse. 38k miles on my DOHC B6 since I had the head work done. No issues.. unless you count the mitsubishi distributor.. but I digress ;)

Here is a link to where I am ordering mine from. This is the cheapest I found, even ebay prices aren't this cheap.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. I didn't know they could be reused since I mainly deal with DSMs and Supras. I was just really shocked when I couldn't find 10 bolts for under $100 shipped anywhere.
