I see nobody here have had problems with the mileage counter .. I bought recently a 92 Mx3 RS , with a KF-DE engine, and ... blah blah
The car is workin very nice but i have a little problem, the mileage counter stopped working ! it;s stuck on 109999 km , and the trip counter wont move again. I was reseting a lot the counter .. still stuck .. is it hard to fix it ? Anibody did this before ?
Thank you !

Sounds like somebody was tampering with the odometer reading. Not you, probably whoever sold you the "Low mileage sports car!"

did the counter stop working while you were driving OR has is never worked since you got it? Do all of the other functions work (speed, rpm, clock, etc)?
It's possible that maybe something is not hooked up right in the back of the cluster.... or with it being an RS with a v6... maybe some wiring is not right...

Well if the counter stopped working after you bought it then why fix it? But if it was broken before you got it there might be tons of miles on that car that are not accounted for. Might want to check into that.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.
Yes you are right something was fishy with the car , the guy changed the readings 100%, i took the instruments cluster out and i saw some missorders like the little piece of metal that keeps the wheels of the trip counter was missplaced.
Since i bought the car , while i was driving home i realized the trip counter got stuck but with a few resets it came back.. but the problem was even before ...
Today i took a day off to check it and after several hours (with a lots of pain) i managed to fix it (with a little help) .. I had to redo all the small-wheels , i mean to put them in order position so they move eachother, then i broke the plastic that resets the trip counter ( the one that is inside the mechanism ) then the support plastics broke aswell .. lots of pain walking in the snow after a superglue .... damn what a day.. But heyyy , now its working

... The guy told me that he bought the engine two years ago ..
To be honest , the engine sounds great and pulls great .. no problems so far

I am proud to own an mx-3
I went yesterday with a friend , in the night after work , to "test" the car, i managed to get almost 100km/h between two lights , true not so close but still , everything was fast , great feeling.
I was dying after those K series engines after a friend showed to me his klze a few years ago

ok thats it with the talk for now ... Good luck and take care , ciao!

good to hear you got the problem resolved.... you didn't happen to take any pics of the inside of the cluster did you or how you made the adjustments? I've always been curious how all that works inside of there...

Nope i did not take any pics or something like that :-s .. Well after you remove the plastic cover that protects the gauges , all you have to do is to unscrew the four screws in the back of the panel then you can remove the gauge out .. And then comes the pain, if you ever want to take it out DON'T force anything , the plastic is very ... not replaceable

..
Second day now driving and works like a charm

, i will never reset again the counter while the car is turned on

Good luck guys.
